Writing on Medium is not going to make you rich and is probably the biggest waste of time unless you actually enjoy writing... let’s be real!
Is it worth starting a Medium.com Blog in 2021 and Beyond?
So you have decided to start blogging and you have discovered Medium.com . Maybe you have heard people talking about medium.com and how much money they are making. Let’s take a few minutes together and figure out is it really worth it? Well the short answer, personally it’s 100% worth it but possibly the reasons may not be what you think.
So before I boast to the world about how much money I am making using Medium.com. Or even compare to others to help formulate a bench mark of income and earnings I think it is worth considering some other non-monetary benefits of embracing Medium.com. Life isn’t meant to be one big get rich scheme. As much as we see the people on Instagram flexing the truth is it’s not possible for everyone to be successful but we all have a chance to be successful. Is medium gonna be your claim to fam? Or your catalyst into something bigger.
It’s Great Way to express your view points and explore new ideas.
I use Medium as a way to write short thoughts on ideas that are important to me at the current moment in my life. I also find it a great way to spend time further researching ideas and taking time to refine my viewpoint and then express it using Medium.com
Build your written communication skills.
Now if you are like me I have finished my basic education including high school and earned a bachelors degree. So to be honest even working in IT I don’t really do that much written work where I have to go and research ideas and put them into a report so I really don’t do a whole lot of writing. So I use Medium to spend time researching ideas and putting them into a form where anyone can understand them although you might not always agree with what I have to say. Also if you can’t tell after completing all my years of education I still can’t write very well and use proper gramma.
Grow an audience.
Document your interests or even your life.
Improve focus and attention.
We live in a time where we have so much going on and with everything accessible at the click of a button it’s easy to flick between different applications lets be honest we are fighting for our own attention. So I use medium as a platform to just spend time chilling with headphones on listing to music and just writing what ever comes to my mind. It’s a nice feeling getting words on paper / screen. I usually spend way to long writing pretty average pieces that don’t get a huge amount of views but hey I still enjoy the time writing them and that’s all the matters to me. It feel like a productive way of me spending time although I don’t think I can retire of my medium earnings haha.
Medium Mistakes
I think one of the greatest mistakes of people jumping into medium or any form of content creation is thinking it will be easy. The truth is anything worthwhile will take a lot of time.

So if you are thinking of growing a Medium.com following I think you have to first understand why you are using this platform and what you’d like to get out of it. A better way to look at it is what can you give back to others using this.
Making Money on Medium.com.
I have to be honest that Medium.com has been in my experience the worst way to make money online. The most I have ever made on an article was like $5.00. I went all in on Medium in 2020 for a month and made like $13.00 which might sound like a lot for some but I spent hours writing getting little reach. So I guess like anything if you have a large enough audience and regular viewers you can make money but for me who really just writes whenever I feel like I need to create content I write using Medium.
